I have some authentic Irish linen my mom brought back from overseas in 1960. One swatch is bright blue, the other is teal, and I would like to make a bag out of it,(blue) for my fowler. What would be a good lining? And should it be weatherproofed some how?
I have a u-shaped pattern that I use with elk, would that be good? I plan to make it with a front and back pocket. :surrender:

I think A light canvas for the interior would be a good option as it would provide some stiffness to the linen. You could also waterproof the outside of the canvas before you assembled it to provide an inner layer of protection from the elements. My other thought would be to use a heavy muslin for the lining and put a layer of rubberized fabric or plastic in between the two to keep it weather resistant. After assembly I would use an outdoor fabric weather proofer to treat the linen.
