making a barrel out of round stock

ran into some round stock at work in the trash i think it's tool steel how feesible would this be to make a barrel
i plan to make a match pair of heavy dragons right and left

Tool steel would not be the best choice for machinability or ductility. 4140 is about as high a carbon as anyone uses for gun barrels.
