I'm trying to make a capote from a Hudson's Bay blanket which has the four short stripes indicating that it is a four point size. The style is double breasted and the pattern shows the short stripes on the left side which laps over the right when it is closed.

Anyway I lay out the pieces as shown on the pattern the short stripes come out on the inside of the left face or the outside of the right side. It is like the pattern is a mirror image of what is shown in the picture of the finished capote. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you solve it?

I think i wouldn't worry too much about it. It doesn't really matter either way. I've seen a bunch of period images that show either side or mostly, no stripes.
