seen some of these and they look kinda neat,
What is the perfered method of removing the blade from the semi hollow handle?

saw some for sale at the MUDDY RUN rondevue.didn't say how they got blade out but did say they use silver knives and drill the handle out... :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

If the handle is glued on, put it in the oven at 200 for a few min. that should soften the glue. You can probably go as high as the oven will go and not hurt anything.
Otherwise, put it in a vise and beat it out.
Notice I didn't say it the other way?
Regards

Brett, can post a pic please? PULEEEZ?

I am most intrigued. :hmm:

...when I get it built! the ones i have seen are merely a knife handle (kitchen/dinner variety with the more fancy handles) that has had a 1 or 3 gr priming spout inserted. the silver plate ones look good when they get a little tarnish on them.
*** dont go robbing one out of your wifes china collection!***

You'll need a internet host in order to do it.

Go to www.photobucket.com and register for an account. it's free.

Once your account is up, upload your pics. Each pic will have three different internet address listed below. copy the middle one

Come to the forum, and when you get to the dialog field for typing box for typing responses. There are 12 little blue boxes at the top left corner. On the bottom row, pick the one that has a little icon of a mountain with the sun above it. A little space will appear to paste that internet address in. Repeat this as many times as you need to. Then check your post and submit. It's faster to do than to explain!

Think i`ll stick with Brett :haha:

what I did find out was.... the blades are soldered in fairly heavy. heated up, pulled the blade out and then heated up some more and got a lot more solder out!
looks like you can swage the opening out with a round punch and put a threaded primeing spout in there fairly easy.
you can get some pretty neat old knives at goodwill for under a buck!
