Does anyone make their own chains for say your pan brush and vent picks and such? I've been looking around for a how to type thing but can't find anything that really helps.

muzzleloader magazine had one a few months back.
essentially wrap a wire 'round a screw driver and cut the one side with aa hacksaw, then take and link the pieces together and close. fancier options are out there, but that'ns pretty simple and straight forward.

Wrap the wire around a dowel of appropriate size, cut through each turn, remove from dowel as links and butt-join.

Yes i do,

I use a pair of modified cir clip pliers to form the links & a small chisel for cutting to size,Hope this is will help.

Large paperclips, round-nosed jewelers pliers and wire cutters. The ones I made look like 8's linked together.

Won't take long to make a chain, then burn off the chrome plating with a torch.
