I'm going to build an old percussion cva rifle kit I have in the garage as a winter project (like I need another project!!) I've already started to make some changes to the original kit form. I made a nice maple insert to replace the brass one that connected the two piece stock. When finished the stock will now look like it was one piece (hopefully). The brass is pretty plain that comes with those kits. I was thinking of adding a patch box. The trigger guard is also cast plain. I've seen numerous brass trigger guards over the years that have been filed or cut making the guard have fancy additives, like lines, steps, chevrons, acorns, etc. Is there a source out there with pictures of trigger guards that have these kind of ammenities? I'd like to spiffy up this trigger guard a little bit but I would like to see an example that I can try to copy. Also, if anyone has any ideas about how to go about adding a cheek piece to a plain stock, I'd like to hear your idea or if you think it can be done with an invisible joint (and not looking like it was an added on piece). I've kinda run out of extra monetary resources for any gun buying for about a year, so I thought I'd just build the one I have and make it nicer looking than just how the kit comes out of the foam box.

Check out track of the wolf's web site, they have alot of t-guard examples.
Here's a jeager I built with a glued on cheek piece. This practice was common in certain areas of germany in the 17th and 18th century.

Thanx Mike !! I hoped you'd chime in on the question. That cheek piece is fabulous and you can't tell at all it's glued. That is exactly my goal!! I realize it's only a CVA kit I'm building, but I want to make something that looks a little nicer than a $50 dollar gun. What kind of adhesive would you recommend for attaching the two pieces, something like acraglas?
Thanx again .......

Accraglass would be fine, or any other high grade slow drying epoxy. Stain both areas before you glue it so the seam won't show.
Those are stocked in beech, I'd recomend a piece of beech for the add on too.
