The largest civil war battle(s) west of the Miss R will be reenacted April 7-8-9 on/near the original site(s) at Mansfield and Pleasant Hill, LA. A large Union Army was halted in their advance north up the Red R from New Orleans in a two-day battle. Casualties were very heavy on both sides. The CSA general was Richard Taylor, son of former Pres. Zach. Taylor. I will be in the 4th LA Artillery on our Parrot gun. The Union army retreated and never reached their objectives. Texas Rangers helped save the day for the outmanned LA forces with cavalry attacks on the flank of the Union forces. If I remember right there were 14000 casualties--a bloody two days. A relatively large CSA camp is set up at Pleasant Hill for living history and vendors. If any of y'all are close come and see us! Good pyrotechnics and cannon duels, infantry assaults and cavalry actions!
