Jim - Trick to it (?) - soak sawdust in water and put over LOW heat in a CI pan so it smokes, not burns, just like you would do with wood chips. This is a good idea, but be careful.
Pouring sawdust on a flame is much like throwing gasoline on a brushfire. It can be quite explosive. Don't ask me how I know about either.
