The Company of Overmountain Men welcomes your participation
in next May’s Native Siege of the Fort
at Sycamore Shoals Historic Area, Elizabethton, TN.
May 17-18, 2008.

This year the siege brought nearly 70 reenactors and we expect this event to grow quickly. As it does it is important to The Company of Overmountain Men, and to Sycamore Shoals Historic Area, that all sides of this piece of history are presented accurately for the education and enlightenment of the public. We sincerely desire that the public get a chance to understand the native point of view as well as that of the settlers. That is why your participation is vital to making this event truly a piece of living history.

OVERVIEW:
Ӣ 3 attacks on Saturday, 2 on Sunday
Ӣ Medical Demos (hopefully in both the settler and native camps)
Ӣ Presentation times in the native camp between attacks
Ӣ Firewood, water, showers and (of course) bathrooms provided
Ӣ Straw available on request
Ӣ 1/2 pound black powder ration for each participant under arms (As a thank you from the park given on the way out on Sunday)
Ӣ Supper provided for all participants on Saturday night

We would love to have you join us for this event.

This an actual even that happened in 1776 at the orignal fort location which is less that a mile from the present location. We would like to invite all 18th century re-enactors, white or native. An excellent time was had by all last year and we are looking for a better time to be had this year. I just wanted to let you all know now so you can mark your events schedule.

Photos of last years event can be seen at http://Hillbillieshaven.Tripod.com/siege
