We'll probably never know...but................
Is there a difference in Master's guns and apprentice guns??

isn't that the difference between a good carpenter and a bad one? A good carpenter knows how to cover his mistakes!

I wonder how that worked. I can never get the perfect fit that great gunbuilders have.
Now I haven’t had a master to teach me, and I see many old guns that have similar screwups to mine. And I’m ok with my guns.
The apprentice had to learn and wood was costly then too. wouldn’t you want to spend is few weeks in their shops with some twelve year old apprentices?

A good anyone admits a mistake and then fixes it.

I had planned to apprentice under a carpenter this summer but then came the virus. Maybe next year.
