i made it several times. used a bit more vinegar and less egg, scant amount of sugar. It was something I did when I lived out in the boonies away from towns and grocery stores. It is too cheap to buy in the store to bother making it. Around here it can be purchased for less than the oil would cost to make it. I personally do not eat it except in tuna or chicken salad. Worked at a sandwich shop for years where it was referred to as mucus.
One whole egg, lemon juice (~1tbsp), salt and enough oil to make the texture desired. Mix with immersion blender until it all comes together. Cover and let sit at room temperature for 1 hour before refrigerating.
Took me a while too. Abbreviations are nice if everyone is familiar with them, but they should be used very sparingly for the sake of clarity in normal conversation.
tastes better then the store stuff, yes the store stuff is cheaper, including quality.
I love adding dill, chipotle sometimes, honey/mustard. Tuna is were some of this is going and a blue cheese dip.
... also used to make my own sandwitch spread, half mayo and half ground pickles.
