There was an article once about the House brother who made the rifle. I think it was him or his wife that also made the strap for his powder horn and his bag too. I'm not 100% on the bag though. :hmm:

There is an article in the May issue of muzzle blasts about the House brothers. In the article they talk about Frank and his wife Lally and the things they made for the movie. They listed a rifle, powderhorn, and a porcupine quilled strap but no bag.Frank may know who made the bag as he was on the set for 10 weeks. This is the address listed after the article: p.o.box 257 Paris,KY 40362. Hope this helps. Jerry P.

I was just watching "The Patriot" awhile ago. (LOVE that rifle he carries. ) And I was looking at the bag you mentioned. It seems pretty simple. Shouldnt be too hard to find someone around here to make you one like it. :hmm:

Go to the Contemporary Longrifle Association's site and click on Artisans. Then click on CLA Artisans, then Quillwork. Her address is there. I think she makes her items to order. Dan

I read in Mark Bakers Book a "Pilgrims Journey II" that Gibsons bag was purchased by the props department and modified by Frank House so it was more user friendly.

I recommend the both books, but if you want I could photo copy the article for you. PM if interested

thanks,
Paul

Hey Mike,

If your still looking for a bag that looks like Mel Gibson's bag, look up October Country. I was looking at their stuff, and they are very similiar.
