how many clean all the lead out of the pot and how many just leave lead in the pot til the next time?

I usualy use all the lead.If not I just leave it in.Not sure if its ok but thats what I do.

I usually fill the pot before I shut it off so that next time it is already full and I am ready to go as soon as it melts.

Me too.

I do ocassionally empty the pot to give it a thorough cleaning.

I do it both ways but generally empty the pot and make 2# bars to keep track of what I used. I would need Huntin Dog and NO Deer both to help move my pot if I filled it up. Seriously you do need to empty and clean the pot once in a while just to keep the sides and the pour spout clean and flowing smooth. I just ordered a bottom pour ladle should be here next week as the last one I used moved out of state last week. Then on to the .58 minnies.

I keep the pot filled. When I'm finished casting I take a knife with wax on it and scrap the sides of the pot, then add more lead and unplug it. Next time the pot is full and it's fluxed.

whenever im finished full pot or half I just turn it off and let dipper in it so I dont loose it....

Yep thats what I do it too. How ever it is when I'm done that's the way its left. Throw any scrap or bad balls in and let it cool down.

I use a big plumber's lead pot and leave the lead in to cool when I'm finished. When I start again, the first thing I do after the lead is melted is to scrape the sides with a ladle. The crud floats on top and I skim it off. Bill
