So can anyone tell me why they put metal curved plates that can just about leave chisel marks on my shoulder on these dern rifleguns?

GEEZE! Every once and a while I want to cut the dern thing off and put a ruber recoil pad on it.

Spot,

Not sure what kid of gun we are talking about,but.... particularly some of the Ohio guns, (Vincent, etc) have an extremely curved but plate, and are intended to be shot from the bicep/armpit area, not the shoulder.
Other than that..... try holding it a little tighter into your shoulder??? :: ::

Spot: As was mentioned, they were meant to be held on the arm so the pointy part is in the armpit.
It's the historic thing.

When you get done trying this, and you figure out why they wanted to do this, post us and let us know. :: ::
