Has anybody bought a fire-lock from this company?: http://www.militaryheritage.com/muskets.htm

It looks like excellent quality with every attention to detail and a great price. I'm saving up for a 1st Model Brown Bess Musket from them but I was wondering if anybody has had any dealings with them before I order one?

The guns are generally good looking and worth the money charged. There are some good markings, the wood to metal is pretty good and the lock works pretty well. I had the frizzen rehardened after a few hundred shots.

The gun is heavy as the barrel is thick and there is extra wood. The wood seems dense and heavy beyond being a bit thick. Many of the threads in various parts are poorly cut and need to be rechased. Ramrod end, lock bolts, tang bolt...

They also do not respond to inquiries for parts after the sale.

Makes you wonder about the breech plug threads doesn't it? :hmm:

You might check out Loyalist Arms and Middlesex Village Trading Company. They seem to have a better reputation for customer service and the products they sell.

Are Bill's muskets assembled from Rifle Shoppe parts?
I don't know, but I would suspect they are, as he offers the same models :hmm:

For a few dollars more an American builder will get you what you want.

Yeah the 28, 42, and 55 1st models are likely from Rifle Shoppe parts. If so, he is only gettin
about $500 to assemble and finish them. The most respected builders seem to get 2 to 3 times that.
His froggie guns and 2nd models might be from Pedersoli kits considering the price.

I concur. No one else in making Grice locks I don't think. besides, at that price, it's gotta be a Pedersoli kit. that's ok with me though as long as he applies all the relevent details and markings pertinent to a second model.

Mike,I will be more than happy to represent you in your coming lawsuit.I will even consider taking a gun of my choice in part payment of my retainer.I look foward to traveling to Iowa and Wisconsin as part of the expenses in pursuance of the lawsuit.Just let me know and I can have my bags packed and be ready to go.
Tom Patton :hmm:
