Just wondering if any one here had experience w/ the Missouri River Hawken. They look like a nice, well put together gun, but was wondering if anyone here that owns or owned one is willing to give an opinion? I read the posts on Lyman GPR and may just get one of them for the price. The Pedersoli's do seem a little pricey. Anyway any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't have a MRH but I do have a Rocky Mtn. Hawken from Pedersoli and I can honestly say it is a very solid rifle. Well built, accurate, and good looking. You won't be disappointed if you are looking for a fast twist.

Same here. My RMH in maple is beautiful and is my best shooter. It shoots Hornady Great Plains conicals or PRB's, even with the slow twist.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I was looking at getting a 45 cal. MRH is advertised in Dixie to have 1:47 twist which should be good for PRB too. The fancy maple stock version is more expensive, but it looks like a nice rifle!

Hi from NZ, I have one in 50 cal maple stock. Love it, shoots great with Hornady GPB. I have just been playing with the PRB. Even with the fast 1-24 twist it is shooting realy well with a Hornady .495 RB. I have found with the patch combo I am using I have to keep the powder charge at 60 or less, other wise the patches start to look a bit worse for wear!. You will not regret getting one. Thanks, Greg.

I sell both models you are considering (at work). They are both good options but can say that "in my opinion" the Pedersoli has a significantly better "high end" finish than the Lyman.

In this comparison you are paying more bucks for the Pedersoli, but you really are getting a superior rifle in terms of (craftsmanship).

It may not shoot any better, but it sure looks a whole lot more "pretty" :)

Always wanted to lay my hands on one of those Pedersoli RMH's.

They are indeed a pretty looking rifle! The only thing that I don't really care for is the color cased furniture on them. I'd rather have everything browned. Nothing wrong with the way it looks as is but rather only a personal choice and opinion on my part.

Respectfully, Cowboy
