Broke bad & bought a Rogers & Spencer .44 - should be here in a few days. What size mold do you .44 shooters use?

I have a few Rogers & Spencers and most of them seem happy with a .454 round ball, However, one that I bought used requires a .457. I don't know if the previous had anything done or this gun is factory specs.

Like they say, there is good news and bad news. The gun arrived early (from the Post Office no less). The gun sent is not a Rogers & Spencer .44 but a Remington 1858 .36 - Lyman markings & in new condition. I think the seller mislabeled boxes & sent me someone elses gun & vice versa. What is the Lyman worth? I may try to keep it if it was not sold to someone else.

Get in contact with the seller, Lyman remington id say 300-400 if its as new

I saw a Lyman Remington at a gun show this weekend in decent used condition for $235. I passed simply because I don’t shoot the revolvers I have enough to add another.

The seller simply grabbed & sent the wrong box. He is sending my the Rogers & Spencer & $ to cover sending the Remington Lyman ( looks new) back. I was thinking of buying the Rem but it is sold to someone else. (and I have an Uberty .36 Rem.)

I hope that simple mistake is all it is. The guns do look similar at a quick glance. The big difference is that Rogers & Spencer will run all day long.

The Rogers & Spencer arrived yesterday. It looks as new. Any cure for the very heavy pull to fully cock the hammer?

Those stock mainsprings are typically very stout. About the only cure I know is to carefully trim the width. There are several recommended methods. The reason I said carefully is because there are no available replacements I know of. Some years back I bought two mainsprings when they were available. Went to swap one for a gun with a very heavy mainspring only to find the replacements were a trifle short. I wish someone was making these guns and replacement parts again.
