I have in years gone by cast my own bullets but they were all round ball for my 45cal. I now have three 50cal that I love to shoot, and only at paper targets. I have been giving thoughts to buying molds and cast mini balls or maybe some other. Basically what I was wondering was which would be the best for just target shooting.

Reckon it'll depend on the type of rifling and twist. Lee's 50 minie might be a real good place to start. They are usually easy to get good castings and not expensive.

My favorite 50 caliber mold is the RCBS Hotchkiss mold. I like it because it is adjustable for length of bullet-which obviously makes the weight adjustable. And it is a simple-high quality mold. Tom.
