The Stumpy's Moose Juice that I make always separates, with a layer of castor oil forming on the top surface. I mix the ingredients in the order suggested (alcohol first, water last, shake in between). This would not bother me except that I don't think I'm getting a consistent dose of oil onto my patches due to the mixture changing in the short time that the patches are soaking, despite vigorous shaking before the patches are dunked. Some of the patches come out noticable pinker than others. Is this separation a typical? Anyone have a solution?

You have materials of various densities mixed together in that bottle with no way to homogenize it. Other than a vigourous shaking, which of course is only a temporary solution, I think we are talking laws of physics here. Perhaps the patches could be "gang soaked" and stored in another container until use?

:v Most of these concoctions are emulsions and not solutions---the materials used in the Moose Juice consists of materials which are not mutually soluble . However, the mixture homogenizes well and takes a bit more time that the standard oil/water emulsoids which separate much faster. So just shake before use as has been suggested and use.

I'm pretty sure that the "witch hazel" has something to do with that.
Follow the recipe and proceedure for making the stuff as posted in the forum section under stumpy's moose juice and it all works out. certain items go in first ect. the directions tell you how!

Don,
I have never noticed a problem....Most likely because I shake just about everything before
using it. Milk, mouth wash, shampoo,peroxide.....
bout anything liquid. Don't know why. Probably
some tramatic experience in my childhood.Maybe
I wet my diaper as a two month old :hmm: :rotf:
snake-eyes :v
