Just recently made up these round mallets, two are for a mate, one small one and the longer handled are for me; even made the handle out of scrap.

I like to make them as well, very relaxing, I tend to use firewood or what ever scrap I have lying around.

Green sweetgum, I turned it green and it cracked some, this wood turned out to be very light in weight, good for delicate work.

I had both of my granddaughters out playing on the lathe, they made me these out of maple firewood, both have been well used.

I make these on the lathe as well. Have a couple that have been well used.
When they are used up they finally go in the campfire.
