Well, trying to get my new .58 cal set up going. Have not owned a 58 before, so ordered 3 size RB's to try and see what it likes before I get a mold. WELL, thank you UPS!! Got my TOTW order in and thought it looked a bit rough on the outside. When I picked up the box, it rattled way too much. Poured out the peanuts into the trash can and foud this;

Now I have fifty .562, fifty .570, and fifty .575 balls mixed in the box with peanuts

Looks like I will be spending a half hour with my calipers tonight getting everything sorted out!! Oh well, at least I can start playing!!

Look at your receipt from Track, I got $10 say's it was shipped by Dave!
(the owner)
He's gettin a little uhm, absent minded(?) lately,,

Never saw anything like that from ToTW and I've gotten plenty! Usually ball are packaged in pretty heavy duty bags that are well sealed. Then put in the box with the always annoying, static-clingy, non-recyclable packing peanuts.

Is that literally what it looked like in the box? No separate packaging for each sized ball? Or was the whole thing literally damaged so badly it ripped it all apart?

This may have been "on purpose" in order for you to get the best possible accuracy from your rifle.

Now you have to sort all those balls by weight and with calipers.

That should leave you with smaller batches of balls with minimal variations.

See, this is actually "good" for your shooting :rotf:

Oh, it wasn't too bad. Got everything I ordered. Got fifty of each size after measuring :haha: :haha:. Can't blame this on TOTW, turns out it was Fed Ex, and there was a hole in the box the size of a quarter, but each ball was there. They were packaged in heavy ziploc bags inside of bags. They were all ruptured. Must have used my box for soccer or something.

Anyway, as stated above, no harm, no foul. Just a bit of sorting!!

I ordered a Pedersoli frontier in .45 flint and it disappeared mid shipment. Kind of sucks. :(

Don't feel lonely. Seems as though in the last couple of yrs. or so UPS and the USPS have been using heavy earth moving equipment to sort and transfer packages with. Ordered a brass ramrod for one of my rifles from The Log Cabin Shop (great group of folks to do biz with BTW). It was taped to a 2x2 inch stick of wood and wrapped in packing material but they still somehow managed to completely break the wood in two and bend the rod almost double. This is only one instance out of three in the past two yrs. Imagine if you can what life would be like w/o insurance. :cursing:

Did they replace the gun? I bought a barrel from a guy he shipped it USPS and right now its MIA. Bought it off eBay guy on the other end is trying to help me find it if it doesn't show up next week Im gonna see how good ebays ins is. Al

Will call ups tomorrow to see whats going on. Looks like no problem except time. Good phone conversations with ups and Dixie so far.

For the most part all my TOTW orders are well packed, I have had some issues in the past and they immediately re-shipped out new parts, no charge. Although I think it is more due to bad handling on the part of the delivery service. I have a great Fed-ex guy, but anything that comes UPS looks like he dragged it the last few miles up the road. Went out to meet him once and saw him walking on other boxes to hand me mine...and yup, there was boot prints on my box too. Called and complained...they are going to get right on it as my business is very important to them... :yakyak:

I am a retired USPS City Letter Carrier. I know there is no excuse for treating peoples deliveries badly. But, the parcel business has gone through the roof for USPS. Most of the vehicles we have were not built for parcels. Not a lot of space and the PO never invested in the racks that will fit in the delivery vehicles. Personally I think they should have separate mail and parcel delivery. A lot of UPS drivers are pushed to the limit every day. If they get a bad loader it takes them extra time trying to straighten things out. I can tell you that 99% of the damage done to a parcel was before it got to the delivery guy.

John, I absolutely believe that. It’s hard to believe the damage that is done to some packages (UPS seems to be notorious) could be done by the final delivery guy. Also, for all the grief the USPS gets, I am amazed at how good the parcel delivery is, especially considering the parcels are delivered in those tiny mail trucks. I have used USPS for countless shipments both to and from, including large shipments like longrifles, and I’ve never had a problem. I always feel bad for the postal worker who needs to hand deliver or pick up large packages at the door.

As I've told sellers on eBay before, the item is still theirs until it arrives in my hands. So if it goes missing, it is their problem to find out where it went. If they don't produce it in a given amount of time I go to eBay and PayPal and open a case and get a refund.

Ups called this morning they are still looking for it. I expect Dixie will end up shipping out another. No complaints so far just waiting.
