In reading on another forum, it was said that using Kroil in your mould makes a troublesome mould more user friendly. First clean all the oil out of a new mould, cast some balls and see how the mould releases the balls. If sticky, apply Kroil to the cavity with a Q-tip and then use the other end to wipe it out. I tried to post the thread but evidently I am not allowed to do so.
 
I never tried Kroil, I keep a candle stub with my casting stuff and smoke the mold by holding it in the candle flame for a minute. Works fine on the aluminum molds I use.
 
I USED to use beeswax on my moulds, especially for lubing the sprue cutter, hinge pin and protecting the cavity, but after a short time there was a build up of black scorched beeswax. I cleaned them up and now don't use anything in the cavities and use Bull Plate for lube. I will try the Kroil though the casting session.
