This has been brought up at least twice before, and eventhough this is intended as a joke, I agree it is wrong. The portrayal of hunters that this presents to non-hunters is not going to help the sport in any way.

I just hope that most realize it was meant as a joke.

If it was a joke why did he post pictures of the deer with 6 holes in it's body? :shake: :youcrazy:

I thought it may have been here before - I did a search of the forum to try to find if it had been brought up before, didn't get any hits. Sorry to take up the space with redundancy - first I had seen it - yeah it was sent to me by one of my co-workers who gives me down the road all of the time about hunting "Bambis".

I have thought many times it would be cool to shoot a buffalo with my one inch deck gun but not with grape shot. That is just plain sick. What is really the point. There is nothing left to eat.

That is about the dumbest thing I have ever seen, sheesh. I dunno...all this camo stuff. Maybe, just maybe I could see it for turkey hunting...but that's about it. Come to think of it, on top of that page, the guy with that mask...sorta looks like part of the costume for that mummy movie. Skin tight yet?? Must be really comfortable on warm days...yeah...right...

I have a good (warped) sense of humor, but I think the joke ended when he added the pix of the deer with the 6 shots. I would like to say that was trick photography, but unfortunately, we have some twisted people out there.

Because he tought 6 holes would be convincing.
Any more and it might look fake.

After reviewing the Wisconsin hunting regulations Link page 13.I am of the opinion that the taking of the deer with a howitzer was illegal. Granted there is no law that says you cannot use a muzzle loading howitzer but according to the regulations it would have to be fired from the shoulder. Secondly, The canister shot would be considered a shotgun load, hence the bore diameter exceeded the maximum 10 ga. bore diameter allowed.
As Claude pointed has pointed out, the photo could well be doctored; If so, one has to wonder why? Marketing ploy comes to mind initially, but this begs the question. Why open the door to criticism and legal problems with the Wi. DNR.
Of greater concern is safety downrange.
The canister is supposedly loaded with 148-69 cal balls. If the deer was actually hit with only 6 balls, where the `ell did the other 142 balls go?

I have seen this before and they got a visit by some guys in uniform someone reported them turned out is was not real. It was just a joke theres a big thread on the ar15 forum on this
