I had this knife and I tried to etch it before and it would not go. So I found some bleached solid elk antler and slapped them on , So it sit a year and I was not happy with it. So couple days before xmas I busted the handle and repolished the blades and etched the blade for about a week. I had some wood scales . I do not not what kinda wood it is but it not native to the states.

I've found that if I want a fast etch, and I do mean fast, all I do is cold blue the blade then set it in bleach.

If you try it, keep a close eye on things or you'll end up with more etch than blade.

Thats nice James are you etching for a aged look or to bring the hamon line from heat treating and or to bring grain appearance out?

The reason for the slow etch if because it cold. I have vinger etch throw the whole blade over night on the same type of steel as this knife. Lhunter, I etch the blade to show the grain of the steel and there is a temeper line but it got lost in the grain.

The whole blade is alittle over 12 half inch long
The handle is little under 4 half inches.
The blade is 1 inch wide

Thank you for the nice words
