Hello,
I was wondering if the Mowrey Rifle kits were still available? If so where do you get them from?
Thanks

Rob

Deer Creek for sure. Only problem is the last time I checked with them, they were all out and were having problems keeping up. You'll have to beg em real nice like.

Not right now. Some time after hunting season ect, the barrel works has been sold, they just couldnt keep up,the man that will be makeing the barrels is well known, made me a hellfire 1 1/8 x 24 " 50cal 1x24 twist, its a killer at 200 yds with a 500gr slug for my H+A. You'll have to ask them who he is, its not my place.Things should run a lot smoother when up and running.( this is H+As to) Fred :hatsoff:

It might be possible to find one at a different location, IF they maintain a few of those kits in inventory, but they are pretty popular and most places usually have to special order them from Deer Creek (the ONLY supplier that I'm aware of) and then they are "drop shipped" to the buyer.

Deer Creek's phone is 1-765-525-6181. I have always gotten good service from them, no matter what I ordered, or if I had any problems (if there were any), they were quickly taken care of also!

The Mowreys are nice guns and the one that I had quite a few years back really shot well (mine was made in TX though) I traded that (plus some cash) for a '66 Ford Fairlane that needed a lot of TLC. The car got a complete re-doing and was sold off to finance another "car project". I still miss that old Mowrey though...

Regards, and good luck on your search.

For what its worth--I own the original from which Mowrey made the molds for the rifle. If any of you have questions, e-mail me.

I myself have been thinking about a kit rifle..."what kind of rifle is the Mowery anyway? A Hawken type or plains or what? Never heard of them before.
If I am to buy a kit and it would be my first....is this one I would want for ease of putting together, or are there other kits that would suit my "limited skills" as a craftsman?

I have one! I have a Mowrey fantastic wood , 28" barrel, 1x24 twist in 45, and not a word on it inside or out, its not Deer Creek but no Tex name, and it has a cast in trigger stop. Who made this one please? I have 4 more 2 DCs and 2 TXs made was this a pre production or..? thank you much. Fred :hatsoff:

I dont know how to answer this one, if the barrel is not put in its metal recevier Id pass, but thats me, Im not sure enough about press fitting barrels in. the rest is easy, youll have to forum your front wood, the lock is a snap 5 min job. Hope that helps, Right now they are trying to figure out just how much to put it together as a kit, as of last week its going to be spring. Fred :hatsoff:

Hey Jim if you want a great easy cheap kit get the Underhammer. Several of us here have them from Deer Creek. I love mine. Cost me about $250. I wrote about it in a thread with photos. Oh and don't put a musket cap on this one! #11 is all you'll need trust me. :shocked2:

You cant get them for awhile or barrels for them. See my post 7 up from here. Fred

What Fred said is correct as he keeps in touch with them. However, you might be able to find one in the auctions sites or clasifieds. Or get Fred liquored up and see if he'll sell one of his! :rotf:
