Alright, im starting to think about what to do with this mule ear lock I have. I really want to build a .58-.62 gun. Preferably a short barreled one.

so a swamped 31" colerain or a oregon tapered octagon barrel are in the running. Would there be any conflicts in using these barrels with the mule ear lock? Im worried about the lock striking the nipple at a weird angle.

Also, this will be a halfstock gun, any issues with putting on an underrib with these barrels?

the lock pannel will follow the contour of the barrel.. so the bolster of the lock will lay up against the barrel.

I would use a straight or a tapered barrel on a halfstock. A 31" swamped Colerain barrel is gonna look strange on a halfstock, IMHO, with that narrow waist & big flare on the muzzle.

As for the lock mount, as previously stated, it mounts against the barrel flat, be it tapered, swamped, or straight barrel makes no dif, the lock still goes against the flat. There will be no angle issues with the nipple.
