was messing around/wasting time the other day and decided to try to make a muzzle guard, turned it out of an old shovel handle, it got pretty thin and'll probly crack where it goes into the barrel, but it was just a rough draft, and it works i guess. has anyone else made their own? if so could you share your methods?

Wood is not a good choice. Wood will pick up grit and debris and become abrasive. I use a short section of brass tube with a brass washer silver brazed on top.

I can see what you mean that it might be too thin where it goes into the barrel. What about one that actually is a large enough diameter to fit around the outside of the end of the barrel? Then it would just need a hole drilled dead center to run the rr through. I've got a store bought brass one but I almost never use it.
