On page 12 of the latest (December) issue of MuzzleBlasts Suzie, owner of Muzzleloader Builders' Supply shows 6 different Pistols.
The ad says "Introducing the New European Pistol Line!"

Of the 6 shown, four are Flintlocks and two are percussion (Originally Flint).
The French Pistols are the "1733 First Model" 9" in Flint or Percussion and the "1711-1760" 12 inch Dragoon is available in Right or Left hand, Flint or Percusson.

Looks interesting. :hmm:

I looked at that also I'm thinking that this is a nice offering of something you normally dont have a supplier for ! what say you ?

I talked to Suzie today because her web site is not working properly. She is changing Webmasters and may be down for a bit more time, but is still taking orders over the phone.
I also asked her about the pistols and she said that she is ready to spray wax and get them to the foundry, and that she is hopeing to have the parts ready to sell in 02/06.

I just recieved MBS's new 2006 catalog and it shows these pistols.
The prices may change, but they seem to be the same of each of the pistols shown.

If you have the lock and trigger inletted the price is about $75 for the barrel, $75 for the Walnut stock, $75 for inletting the lock and trigger, $82 for brass furniture and the trigger. No price is given for the Flint Pistol lock but similar locks are about $100.
This adds up to about $407.
Fairly pricy but if the guns parts are very high quality, (as Susie assures us they will be) it is something to think about.

The catalog also says if your not satisified with the kit they sent to you, you can exchange them for any other pistol kits they are offering.

Zonie,
I just received my order from susie and she threw a 15 page catalog dedicated to just the 7 pistols. I too thought the price was a bit high but as you said the parts should be of very high quality.
My biggest concern is inlaying the butt cap. Caps are tough enough, but throw in the extra straps running 3/4 of the way up both sides and now you have introduced a formitable challenge to most builders.
Well the prices are what they are and when I get to the point in my skill level that I feel I can do one and not be too upset with the job I'll own one.

The add also appeared in the latest issue of Muzzleloader mag. Is it possible that the molds are taken from original lock and furniture components? If properly tempered and assembled locks become available this will be great for anyone interested in accurate reproductions of 18th century military pistols.

Zonie,

I've got the parts for the Danish Gentleman's pistol on order right now.
Will be a flintlock as the original one was before being converted to percussion.

Using a Ditchburn pistol lock. (Awesome lock) I have a rifle sized one on a I. Haines .40 cal. Works like a fine watch.
Should be a great little pistol with a .40 cal oct to round barrel. :hmm:
