This is my old Euroarms 1853 Patten Enfield. This was purchased around the year 2000. That was when you could get a quality Italian repro WITH matching bayonet for $350.00 from Dixie Gun Works. Oh, what a shining time! Of course, I guess its all relative. Back then, I was a rookie cop bringing in $650.00 every two weeks after taxes. Anyway, this rifle still shoots great. It likes a Lyman .575 Burton Minnie lubed with SPG lube over 60 grains of 2FG powder. With that load, I can manage 5-6 inch groups, off hand at 100 yards, standing, loading from the cartridge box. I‘ll keep her.
