I bought a used Pedersoli Brown Bess and took it to the range for the first time today. Yeee Haaah!!! I finally know what you guys have been taking about. What a rush! I set a paper target out at 25 yards. I loaded up 70 grains of 2ff goex and took aim. A light misty fog had rolled in across the range. I pulled the trigger, and when the smoke cleared i could hardly believe what i saw. The hole was one and a half inches off dead center! Beginers luck i thought .Well i put nine more rounds on target and all were in the six inch black circle! Not bad for a gun with no rear sight. All i can say is i am hooked, blackpowder is addictive!!!

I'm using 110 grs. of 2Fg and a .715 with .026 denum in my Pedersoli.
Yup!!!! quite a ball (indeed!)
Now work up a shot load and you've got 1 gun for all seasons,,,,,,,, awsome indeed!

Well good for you, we can always use another bess shooter...

The Lyman Black Powder Handbook list both shot and ball loads for the Brown Bess...

I myself, use 100 to 120 grains of FFg and a .715 round ball with a .020 pillow tick patch lubed with either moose milk or wonder lube... (depending on what is at hand)
