I went to the range today and my kentucky made me proud.I bored out the touch hole out to 5/64,made sure the intrance to the patent breech was clear with a real small screwdriver I had.I used a small amount of patch lube between shots. It worked great.I know that Iam at the first stage of a good flintlock rifle. This is a starter gun,but its to late now,I have now got the flintlock fever.I still flinch a little bit,but Iam working on it.By the way my Rich Pierce flints made a big difference also.squib

Congradulations on getting your rifle shooting good and on your new fever. Being hooked on flintlock is better than any drugs. Rich Pierce knap some wonderful flints. Are you looking for your next flinter yet? :rotf:

Not to late for an "Older Dog" to learn new tricks.. Keep on a shootin and the flinch will go after many rounds. That's what worked for me anyhow.

Dryfiring with a wooden flint can help you with your flinching. After a while you get used to the gun and how it feels and don't even see the flash and smoke from the lock.

This is true.

I never had a problem with the pan flash, even from the beginning. Never really notice it. But then my wife says I'm oblivious to everything.

Thanks for the replies,Iam not looking for my next rifle yet, only thinking about it.I dont want to excite the wife just yet.I will have to plan a way to get a new rifle passed her without her spotting it.squib
