As many of you know, my shooting has been severely limited for the past 2 1/2 years due to health issues. My upper body and arm strength is a fraction of what it used to be. I can no longer hold up my Brown Bess or flint long rifle. Some months ago I sold my Jaeger through TOW and used the funds to purchase a Chambers Little Fella kit. I am most fortunate that Dave Person generously agreed to do the build. He did state up front other projects needed finishing before he could do my rifle. Now that that incredible fowler is finished he is starting on my rifle. Am I happy? Take a guess.:grin: For a little background. Originally, I considered getting the rifle in .40 cal. just because I have never owned a .40. But, I reconsidered that due to weight and decided on a .45. I wanted a 1:48" twist because I favor that as ideal for prb. But, the mice and men reality changed things. When I ordered Chambers barrel supplier did not have any .45s on hand and there would have been a wait of up to 14 weeks for one. So, I ordered a .50. I'm OK with that and the barrel weight will be less than the smaller caliber. Their supplier only provides barrels with a 1:56" twist. Oh, well. Their supplier, now called Buckeye, ain't no dummy. They know 1:56" is a great all-around choice for prbs. I'm OK with that. Same with the wood. My stock is plain. Wait for a fancy hunk of maple would have been up to 18 weeks. The rifle will have a Johnson rear peeper and a Lyman globe on the front. My club allows these for aging eyes and our south facing range. Dave will be doing some fancies on the rifle even though I would be delighted with a plain shooter. Am I OK with that? Does a 14 year olds heart flutter with his first kiss? :grin: Dave sent me a pic of another rifle and said mine will look like that.
