This rifle is a dream come true. This is the gun I dreamed about as a kid, running through the woods playing Daniel Boone and this is the gun I've dreamed about ever since. I settled for mediocrity until I finally decided to give Roy a call. I had admire his work for a while and his reputation proceeded him. This one is on its way and I can hardly wait...

I told Roy that I was generally interested in a Faber "inspired" rifle - something that might have been made by the same hand as that gun. He did the rest. This gun has a 42-inch, Charles Burton barrel and a Chambers round-faced lock. I think he crafted a major update to the cheeks-side carving from the original. I love it. The shell carving on the tang is so good, too. I can't wait to shoot this next week, as soon as it shows up. My boss already knows I worked extra hours this week so I can leave as soon as this lovely piece arrives.

Very nice, and I love that it's fulfilling a childhood dream. Hope it brings you years of good memories.

I've had the opportunity to handle some of Roy's guns that he built for Jethro. They are truly top notch muzzleloader's.

You sure have a beauty there! It is touching to hear that you finally received the kind of muzzleloader that you've always wanted. I love these kind of topic's.

Congrats on your new rifle my friend, and let us know how she shoots!

Respectfully, Cowboy :hatsoff:

The box arrived last night - I had it shipped to my work since I was in the middle of moving houses last week. The office was just about to close when the postal truck showed up. Just in the nick of time.

I got the box home and went inside to see my wife and kids because I didn't want to make my wife jealous. She said, "aren't you gonna open it?" so I grabbed my drill and unscrewed the box and it's even better than the pictures...

The barrel is actually 44" rather than the 42" which I ordered from Charles Burton, but I really don't care. I didn't even noticed until I put a brass cleaning rod down the bore and noticed there was slightly less rod protruding. I've had 31, 38, 42, and 46-inch barrels but never a 44. I imagine that this C-weight .54 with the 44-inch barrel is similar in weight to a 42-inch .50 cal. Either way, it points and holds just fine.

Now I need to go shoot a bunch of groups and put some wear on the shot pouch I recently made.

I held that recently at Roy's place. It is a sweetie! Welcome to the Roy Stroh fan club. Roy is a nice guy too. He is about 15 miles from me.
