My GPR kit is setting in the gun room waitting to be built, but I thought it would be a good idea to re-do my old T/C Hawken just to get back in the swing of things. grey whiskers hooked me up with a new .50 cal T/C barrel, and when it came I just could'nt put that nice barrel on my old T/C stock, so I refinished it, and coreccted a few mistakes I made when I built that gun in the late seventies. The finish on the stock was pretty worn, and the brass was in terrible shape. I did'nt want a new gun look so I went over the stock with 0000 steel wool, then I hit it with four coats of Tru-oil, then I went over it again with 0000 steel wool, then I rubbed it out with Scratch-X, a product for removing scratches from clear-coat finishes on cars, the results was a nice looking hand-rubbed look. I was missing the wedge, and the ramrod, but I just ordered them from T/C today. By this time next week my old girl should be up and around and lookin good. I think that this little project is a good primer before I start my GPR kit. If I could figure out how to post pictures I would love to post some before, and after pictures, I even got a photo-bucket account, and I still can't get them to show-up on this forum!!!???.
