Mystery C&B Pistol Case

Going thru a box of shooting gear the other day, I found a pistol case. It is the same length & width as the case for my '51 Navy and has the same interior layout & partitions pattern with compartments for caps, mould, flask, etc. It appears to have been used with an indention in the lining where the cylinder would rest.
Here is the problem - it is perhaps 1/8 to 3/16 inch too shallow to close with a '51 Navy inside. It appears too big for a smaller caliber pocket pistol & is too thin to hold a .36. Any ideas on what gives with this case?

For a 5-shot Patterson maybe?

I think there was also a 5 shot Police percussion. a baby dragoon fitted with a 36 caliber cylinder.

A Paterson with a 7 and 1/2" barrel is a good bet. The pocket pistols used smaller cases and accessories, in particular the powder flask. They were also much thinner and shorter than either the Navy or the Paterson.

There were pocket pistols in .31 caliber, and Pocket Navys and Pocket Police models in .36 caliber. But they all used smaller cases than the holster pistols.
