I was thinking of purchasing a NAA Companion. I read that it was designed to use only #11 Remington percussion caps. The FAQ of their website answered someone whose cylinder wouldn't fit in because of the caps they were using. I was wondering if anyone has had any success using other sizes or brands of cap?

I recently purchased a NAA Super Companion Kit (NAA-22M-CBK) online from a dealer in Alabama who had 10 of them. They sold out within 30 hours and I think I got the last one:

"300-30 gr lead bullets; powder charge measure; bullet seater; 5 bullet nipples (installed in cylinder); allen wrench for bullet nipples; small padlock with NAA Logo; leather bullet pouch; replica Civil War era flap holster and extra cylinder w/bullet nipples installed."
The Super Companion is based upon the .22 Mag frame, cylinder, with a 1-58" barrel. The Companion is based upon the .22 LR frame, cylinder, with a 1" barrel. The powder charge for the Super is only 5 grains FFFg, less for the Companion. I use CCI #11 caps but they really need to be pushed down snugly. The best part of the NAA cylinder is that the cap is almost entirely enclosed by the cylinder.

The best part about procuring it as a kit is the 300 .22 30 grain conicals and the bullet seater. NAA is the only source for the conicals and they seem to have really slowed production late.

Regards,

Jim

Havn't messed with it, but I got one off them as well. Should be a hoot. I tried cci magnum caps, and my homemade prime-all caps on it, and they both fit in flush. Theres two types that fit well. Cci magnums stick out too far to cycle the cylinder

Hey, I just got two (plastic) tins of German perc. caps marked No.1075; are they No. 10's? I forget the mfgr., but clearly recall the 1075. Thanks! They're in red "tins".
