A matter of semantics- I should have said "ourselves" rather than "yourself" because that's what I meant. I don't own an inline, and in fact never have. But I know lots of inline shooters who get the feeling we think we are better and are a little sick of it.
Kidding is fine when you give it a break often and sincerely, but it's not kidding if you do it all the time. The best approach I have found with inline shooters is to be excited that they are trying their hand at muzzleloading, then let them play with my gear a little. It really isn't as much fun to use inlines for our kind of plinking, small game hunting, and even big game hunting. Bring along a friend with his inline next time you are snuffing candles, shooting squirrels or rabbits, or simply making smoke. See how long it takes for them to wait for a turn with yours, then start asking questions in preparation for buying their own. Yeah, you (we) are going to have to put up with some guff when the shooting moves out to a couple of hundred yards, but take it from me: You (we) earned it.
If we want "strength in numbers" we are going to have to encourage a lot more folks to get interested in our sport and quit bickering among ourselves- even if you (we) think it's "fun." Next time you feel like "kidding" someone, try shooting their rifle and show some real interest in them. Then let them shoot your gear. It's pretty easy to win them over when you are civil, but harder than hell if they are sick of listening to you.
