Nothing special....just had a small horn that was too big for a salt horn an too small for a full size horn. Excellent size for a day horn though. The spout has a brass insert and a cap that doubles as a powder measure.

you have an awesome artistic talent when it comes to scrim, the balance n detail etc are off the charts fine, one question? did you make the brass tip yourself or can they be purchased someplace, I like the way that looks n works--  YMHS Birdman

Thanks to all for the kind comments.

Birdman - I made the spout / powder measure for this and a few other horns. This type of hardware is not commercially available anywhere that I know of.

Jack - Yes, I made this horn in 2001...doesn't seem like 11 years ago, but it was! Actually, I made the horn a few years before that but didn't get around to scrimshawing it until 2001. That's why I don't bother aging most of my horns and guns. Just like me, they will get very old fast enough.

beautiful, awesome work!!love the compass rose.. was gonna get that tatooed on my arm when i got my captains license....
