Getting ready to scrim a war of 1812 naval battle scene on this horn that has a 19th century naval button inlet into the plug.

Beautiful work so far on a beautiful horn. Those pure white horns are hard to come by. You are off to a very nice start. Keep the photos coming.

Took my first crack at compass scrim work and I don't like what I did at all. Poor planning. Next time I will do it on paper before WINGING it on a horn and being disappointed.

Erase it (sandpaper/steel wool) and start over happens even when you lay it out on paper,,horns are not flat or cylinders just adjust as needed and come at it head first ,,,

suzkat, Just remember that probably 99% of the powder horn engraving on the old originals had their share of over-runs cuts and little goofs and imperfections. Hey, that's what makes handcrafted LOOK handcrafted!....Like what you did with that strap ring!
