Well its finally nearly done. Functional but minus the engraving which I feel too unpracticed to finish at the moment...but very pleased. Shoots awesome too.

What a great looking rifle. I’d say you did really well!
Also it’s a good decision you made about not trying out uncertain engraving skills on your beautiful gun. Many a sweet job has been soured by using it as a practice block.
Congratulations on your first build- I kind of doubt it will be your last 😉

Beautiful rifle. Tell us more about it. What caliber, type of lock, etc.
Its a Jim Chambers kit - Isaac Haines, .45 cal. Started before Xmas this year and took lots of evenings and weekends. Learned a ton, spent as much time researching I think as building. Thanks to all for your comments. I am very pleased so far. The first shots on sight in were perfect for windage (Guess a good guess on position). Ran out of 3f for elevation so hope to finish in the next day or so. And there will be some engraving practice in my future but its a functioning piece for sure! I did engrave my name in the barrel and used nail polish to highlight. But that is the limit of my engraving skills after nearly blowing it on the hunters star. Its so nice I am happy to advance skills and engrave later. :)

Appears to be a nice looking first build, but difficult to really see in such a busy background, especially when it looks like you used a flash. With the poor lighting your gun blends into and almost disappears in the brightly colored throw pillows and couch or love seat in your photographs. Why not take photographs in natural light without the clutter so we can see and appreciate the detail of your work? It looks like a gun to be proud of. The gun should jump out as the focal point of your photographs, not blend into throw pillows.

Here are some additional pics - ramrod pipe carving is an edelweiss - My wifes favorite flower. I'm far from an expert wood carver as I have never carved anything before in my life. Thanks and yes, there will probably be another build in my future. :)
