I just purchased a CVA kentucky rifle..for dirt cheep. The stock is so-so, barrel is rough and it's missing parts. My thoughts are to find a pistol stock, cut down the barrel( and do the rest of the work needed to the barrel) and use my existing lock and trigger and other hardware. So, where can I get a nice cheep preferably used CVA pistol stock?

They are on ebay all the time, but the prices they bring are ridiculous. I was actually going to do the same thing, but I don't want to pay more than a whole CVA pistol is worth.

A suggestion? Use the existing stock, it has all the inletting already, and splice in wood from the butt to make a nice Kentucky style or English dueller shaped grip. Use that for a while and if its really good you can spend the $ for a decent stock.

Tell us more - is it percussion lock? what kind of rough is the barrel? What parts missing?

Do you figure on any problem in accuracy of pistol length barrels with lighter charges? What is your twist rate?
