I was getting my shooting stuff out of my truck and my MVTCo Ketland pistol fell out landing on its grip. The stock broke straight through and is currently being held on only by the trigger guard. A picture of the damage is available at: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g294/alrany187/brokenketland.jpg

Would it be best to simply replace the stock or is this salvageable?

I would suggest epoxying it back together, then drill and install a reasonably thick walled steel tube, at least 3/8" diameter, up through the butt and as far beyond the break as you dare. Epoxy that in place also. That should be stronger than it ever was. If you carefully fit the two pieces of the stock together, you may not see the break unless you look for it. You will need to refinish it.

A good strong glue and dowels or pins could be put in to join the stock, I would hide them inside the stock and not drill through the butt though. I used to have a good dowling jig that would match the holes on both sides up real well but lost it at some point and have yet to find a replacement, but I'm sure there is a good tool out there somewhere. Clamping it securely with even pressure across the break may be your most challenging issue. If glued and clamped well the final result should barely be noticable.

Thank you gentlemen for your help. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks again.
