We have had this gun for almost a year, and still no one can tell me what it is. Some have said it is an Indian Blunderbuss, but I am not convinced. It is just over 50" in overall length. The barrel is 35 3/4" long and has a diameter of 2" on the end. It is pretty heavy.

Post 1777 ,that lock needs a broad arrow mark to be British mil. issue . The stock looks post 1809, it could be earlier if its Indian made, it does look to be Indian by the barrel. In the late 1790s early 1800 a,lot of British guns were made under contract in Liege.Proof marks are a must to try and track these guns to a manufacturer, still it is an interesting piece. :)

These are the only markings I can find on the gun. 1st two are near the trigger. last two are just the designs on the barrel. Im not sure if anyone can help, but it is greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Rob

Yes& that lock looks like a Liege one ,one that was not excepted by the OD. Between 1779 & 1783 , it is possible that the broad arrow has been filled of the lock , it should be dirrectly under the center of the pan. Guns that failed QA were sold off on the open market to recoup losses.

I can see where the arrow stamp was , the lock is the real deal ,Butt plate, trigger gaurd are also LIEGE made bess parts from the time frame I posted above . The rest of the gun (barrel & stock is Smufty ) .
