So this is from our form, I like the finish of this barrel and was wondering what’s the easiest way to get this? I just used LMF to brown a barrel and I didn’t like it one bit so I steel wooled it back and it actually gave this kinda look but I was wondering if there is an easier way to do that then going the route I did. Would super blue work then buff it back??

I like that color, and it’s usually what I draw my metal back to. Last several projects I’ve used Jax Black in 2 or 3 applications drawing each back. I’ve done it with BC cold blue too. But I prefer the grey tones I get from Jax. The super blue should work fine depending on the final tone you want. Good thing is, if you don’t like it, strip it and try something else.

Thanks! Yeah I didn’t like the brown I was getting, i didn’t want it to rusty snd the tone I was getting was copper. I followed the directions and did what they said and only wiped in one direction so I don’t know. Plus it made me realize how much more I like the grayish barrel. Okay so I need to get what you guys suggest, only reason I asked about super blue was bc my local gun store had it he is out of the other flavors

For an aged look you can brown it to create some pitting, remove it and then do Jax or Historic House Brass black.
