I have recently been given a Mink Stole(sp) made up of 4 mink pelts. The pelts have the heads and feet and tails still attached.

Do you have any ideas as to what I could make out of them?

Thanks,

Out in the villages I've seen some really cool hats made from ermine with one or more heads to the front, kind of a miniature version of the coyote, lynx or bobcat hats you might have seen. Haven't seen any mink, but then we don't have them. Bet it would look good. Best I've seen of the ermine hats, the guy used turquoise for eyes.

They also make great little pouches for tobacco and your fire starting kit. Sew up any openings, then make a new opening slit between the two front paws. To use it, you put your stuff in it, then pull it up through your belt/sash and let the head hang down over your belt/sash.

And some people will attach a strap to the front paws so that they can use it as a shoulder pouch or neck pouch.

The other version has the slit right in the middle of the belly, and running lengthwise instead of across. To use this one, you put stuff in each end and then loop it up and over your belt/sash. That "slit belly" stays closed through pressure from your belt/sash. A mink pelt might be a little short to use as a Slit-Belly pouch.

Just my humble thoughts to share. Take them as such.

This has absolutly nothing to do with our sport and hardly anything to do with this topic but I had a teddy bear made from some of my mink hides for the wife and was in her good graces for a long time.

That's a brilliant idea. I think I'm gonna make Mrs. Cooner a teddy bear out a beaver. She loves Teddy Bears. Maybe she'll buy me a 1842 Mississippi rifle in 54 caliber with all the correct markings and stuff. Thanks fer the tip!!!
