With the acquisition of my new flintlock fowler, I found I needed a new primer for it. The lock, an L&R Old English style is fairly small and, with the waterproof design, there isn't much room between the open frizzen and flint at half-cock to get most of my current priming horns into. So, as much as I just hate to make my o  wn accessories, I picked up a piece of stabilized (I stabilize my own wood) redbud spalted burl, drilled the appropriate holes, chucked it up on my lathe and turned what I wanted. I had on hand one of those brass springy thingys for priming, just like the real mountain men used, put that in then made the top end from a hunk of scrap cocobolo. The top end cap is glued in, not intened to come out, and will hold a thong if needed. No fancy finish, just a little automotive wax for element protection. Time involved, about one hour.
