I'm thinking of ordering one of these from Chambers. There's a choice of 10, 11 and 12 ga, and I'm inclined to opt for the 10, but I'm wondering whether anyone with experience of building these has any thoughts on this? I'm thinking from a build point of view and aesthetically (I can easily justify 10 ga as a working gun!). Thanks.

That's a good thought - I'd mainly thought of having it as a shotgun but would want to shoot ball too.

I ordered the 11 gauge fom ERA so I could use the same ball that I use in my 75 Ed Rayl barrelled rifle. 594 grains of Bo-Whoop :) GC

If you cast your own balls, Jeff Tanner will build you any size round ball mold that you might need.

Then you have to find the larger wads. The 11 gauge wads are very common because they work in the Brown Bess.

I shoot 11 bore (42") and 12 bore(36").
I like them both looking at a 28 ga 48-50"barrel for a smooth rifle.
were abouts in Ont. are you I'm in brant county 6 km from the grand river.
11 and 12 are very easy to find gear for. :hatsoff:

I'd go with the 10 ga., probably because I already have the 10 ga. pedersoli double and almost 500 Circle Fly wads and over-powder cards.
