Just joining to learn more about these guns. I am about to retire and hope to have time to learn how to properly care for and shoot a reproduction Zouave that my father-in-law gave me some years ago. I hope I don't bug you guys with too many stupid questions!

Welcome to the Forum from a WNC member. you came to the right forum just search Zouave - lots of info. I don't own that but admire owners of.

Emphasis added.

The only stupid questions are those unasked.
Welcome to the group. :hatsoff:

Thanks for the welcome! I need to start with the basics. What forum do I need to post to in order to find out about what powder and how much, where to get a kit for cleaning and sizing? I have been out with a shooter and he taught me some of the safety points and about cook off etc. but I have no equipment asside from a few precussion caps and the extractor.
Thanks!

Welcome from another WNC member, if you get up to the Asheville area you may wish to check out the French Broad Rifles. Most of your initial questions may be answered in the percussion and shooting accessory forums.

Welcome to a very neat forum. I live in WNC myself. You will find this interesting and informative.

Welcome to the forum. I recommend you get a copy of the BLACKPOWDER HANDBOOK by Fadala...it will answer a lot of your questions and the forum will take care of the rest.
