Been looking at all the bags made by you forum members and decided to give it a shot. This one's out of buckskin with a ticking liner. Strap is jute, sewn into a tube then turned inside out and ironed flat. Bag is 8" wide at the widest points, strap is 1 1/2" wide.

Lot more time consuming that I'd thought, put about 8 hours into it. Guess the next one would go a little quicker. :)

Raynor, looks good...nice simple style...I suspect a lot of the early ones were made this simply. Does the buckskin give you any "sag"? I would have thought it not stiff enough...Best,Hank

The ticking liner really stiffened it a lot. Even before I put the ticking in, there was no sagging. Fairly small bag though. I almost didn't use a liner, just like the looks is all.

Bigger bag may be a different story.

Nice bag for sure. Should carry everything you need for hunting or whatever.

I'm getting ready to work on another bag...average time for mine is about 30 hours. This one is going to be simpler, so it may be a little less time.....

I made this one fairly basic and simple, the back panel and flap are one piece. I did put a welt between the front panel and back panel that you can see in the pic, didn't bother trim off the extra. I think it looks better leaving the welt uneven around the edges.

Next one I'm going to add a little more detail, maybe some fringe.

Decided to add tabs for powder horn staps. Used antler buttons to stop the straps from pulling back through the tabs. Think it's totally finished now, just needs some use to antique it a bit.
