I know this same question comes up about every other week around here, but here goes. I went into my neighborhood gunshop yesterday to buy some black powder. While there I was presented with a brand new in the box TC Patriot pistol in 45 caliber. These guys do this to me every time I go there! Enticement is the word that comes to mind! Anyway, the asking price for the pistol was 450.00. I probably could talk em down to 400, but do I really "need" one of these collector value "no shooters". Even at 400 dollars there probably isn't much room for any resale profit?

That is the going price, however I think it's too much. I bought an unfired one, a few months back, for 200.,but it did not have the box. I guess from a collectors standpoint, the price would be about right.

Think about it. If TC was still offering that pistol it would sell for more than $450. If you need a pistol, why not buy it and use it? You're not gonna find a nicer production pistol. GW

I paid 275.00 for a very good used patriot about 8 years ago. Seems like a fair price now days for a new in the box Patriot. Mike D.

I bought one a few months ago in pristine (not new) condition for $360. I'm very happy with my purchase.

I would pay $400 for a new one in box but might shy away at $450.

I'd walk past it.
Too costly for a shooter, too high for any reasonable attempt at a profit re-sale.

Don't get me wrong there are folks out there that would just love to have an unfired Patriot in 45 and would probably pay more than 450 to get it.
Trick is to find one of those guys.

Quite some time ago there was a discussion about the collectability of T/C guns and Zonie provided some really good insight into the discussion, wish I could find it.

Essentially he said there would really be no "real" interest in collecting them in our life time. They are just too recent.

Second as has been pointed out here, the guns have been bastardized so much, changing parts, barrels, triggers and folks re-finishing them to suit their needs, it's going to be hard to find a total factory gun in original condition.

Personally, I would not invest money into T/C guns, NIB, for an investment, I would not live long enough for them to increase in value to recover my initial investment and make a profit.

The interest in M/L guns is shrinking along prices for factory guns.

My thoughts.

I have to agree with the most of you fella's, not a valuable collector item for many years to come. And then only....maybe! One of those catch 22's, to shoot it drops it's value and desirability. To store away to collect dust in the safe, what's the fun in that? I can get a shooter of this same model for half the asking price of this one. I think I will pass this one up.
